Jim Kaat is an American professional baseball player, and television sports commentator. A pitcher, he played for the Washington Senators/Minnesota Twins, the Chicago White Sox, the Philadelphia Phillies, the New York Yankees, and the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is nicknamed “Kitty.”

Jim is the son of Nancy and John Kaat. He was raised in a farming community. He is married to Margie. Jim has four children with his former wife MaryAnn, to whom he was married until her death.

Jim’s paternal grandfather was Simon Kaat (the son of Marinus Jacobus Kaat and Maatje ‘t Gilde). Simon was born in Tholen, Netherlands.

Jim’s paternal grandmother was Johanna Adrianna DeJonge/De Jonge (the daughter of Machiel de Jonge and Cornelia Poleij/Poley). Jim’s maternal grandfather was Henry Bosma (the son of Oetze Bosma and Antje Merseman). Oetze was born in Grootegast, Groningen, Netherlands, the son of Siebrien Bosma and Martje Sarken Heemstra. Antje was born in the Netherlands, the daughter of Hendrik Berends Mersman and Jantje Ekkes Helmus.

Jim’s maternal grandmother was Mientje Minnie Rietberg (the daughter of Albert Rietberg and Niesje Elizabeth Van Raalte). Albert was born in the Netherlands, the son of Jan Hendrik Reitberg and Meintje van Der Vecht. Niesje was born in Michigan, the daughter of Dutch parents, Roelof VanRaalte and Cornelia Engeline Banjminse.
