Jim O’Rourke was an American professional baseball player. An outfielder, he played for the Middletown Mansfields, the Boston Red Stockings/Red Caps, the Providence Grays, the Boston Red Caps, the Buffalo Bisons, the New York Giants, the New York Giants (Players’ League), and the Washington Senators, of the National League and American Association. He managed the Buffalo Bisons and the Washington Senators. He was nicknamed “Orator Jim.”
Jim was the son of Irish parents, Catherine (O’Donnell) and Hugh O’Rourke. His mother’s roots were in Donegal. He was raised on the family farm.
