Joe Calzaghe is a Welsh professional boxer. He has held world championships in two weight classes, with unified and lineal titles at super-middleweight, and the Ring magazine light-heavyweight title. He is the longest reigning super middleweight world champion in boxing history. He is nicknamed “The Pride of Wales,” “The Italian Dragon,” and “Super Joe.”
Joe was born in Hammersmith, London, England, the son of Jacqueline, and Enzo Calzaghe (born Pietro Vincenzo Calzaghe), a boxing trainer, who was head trainer for Team Calzaghe at the Newbridge boxing club. His father was born in Bancali, Sassari, on the island Sardinia, and moved to Bedfordshire, England, with his family when he was two. Joe has two children with his former wife Mandy Davies; and a son with his former partner Katie Matthews.
