Joe Rogan is an American podcaster, commentator, stand-up comedian, actor, and television presenter. He hosted Fear Factor from 2001 to 2006, and was an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interviewer and color commentator. He appeared on the shows Hardball and NewsRadio .
Joe is the son of Assunta/Susan M. (DiGerlando) and Joseph John Rogan. His father is of half Irish and half Italian descent. His mother is of Italian ancestry. On an episode of his podcast, Joe stated that the results of his 23andme DNA test found that he is “1.6% African.” He did not elaborate on the figure but it is probable that his African heritage is North African.
Joe is married to Jessica Ditzel, and has three children. Jessica is not the daughter of comedian Robert Schimmel, as some web sites indicate.
Joe’s paternal grandfather was James Joseph Rogan (the son of John Rogan and Anna Phelan). James was born in Harrison, Hudson, New Jersey, to Irish parents.
Joe’s paternal grandmother was Virginia Bridget Bione (the daughter of Carmine Bione and Lucia Trangone). Virginia was born in Harrison, Hudson, New Jersey, to Italian parents.
Joe’s maternal grandfather was Joseph Leonard DiGerlando (the son of Salvatore DiGerlando and Maria Assunta/Susie Bruno). Joseph was Italian. His family was from Alessandria della Rocca, Agrigento, Sicily.
Joe’s maternal grandmother was Josephine Mary Spadone (the daughter of Savino/Samuel “Sam” Spadone and Genovieve/Genivie/Genieve/Jennie/Genoveffa Annunziata/Anniziata). Josephine was born in Newark, Essex, New Jersey, to Italian parents. Savino was from Melfi, Province of Potenza, Basilicata, and was the son of Giovanni Spadone and Lucia Vitelli. Genovieve was from Aquilonia, Province of Avellino, Campania, and her mother’s surname was De Riezo.
Joe is a second cousin of singer, songwriter, musician, and comic book artist Gerard Way . Joe’s maternal grandmother, Josephine Mary Spadone, and Gerard’s maternal grandmother, Elena Lina Spadone, were sisters, the daughters of Savino/Samuel “Sam” Spadone and Genovieve/Genivie/Genieve/Jennie/Genoveffa Annunziata/Anniziata.
