Joel Embiid is a Cameroonian-American-French professional basketball player. A center, he plays for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a seven-time NBA All-Star, was named NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2023, and is the first foreign player to lead the NBA in scoring, having led for two seasons. He is nicknamed “the Process.” He is 7′0″.
Joel is the son of Christine and Thomas Embiid, a military officer. His family is Bassa/Basaa, a Bantu group. He was discovered at a Basketball Without Borders camp in South Africa. He is now a U.S. and French citizen. He is fluent in French and Basaa. Joel is married to Brazilian model Anne de Paula , with whom he has a son. Joel is a Catholic.
