Joey Carbery is an Irish professional rugby union player. A fly-half and fullback, he plays for Bordeaux Bègles. He was previously with Leinster and Munster, and the Ireland national team.
Joey was born in New Zealand, to Irish parents, Amanda and Joey Carbery, who were from Athy, County Kildare. His family moved back to Athy when he was eleven. His father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, were all named Joe, and all played rugby.
Joey’s paternal grandfather is named Joe Carbery (the son of Joe Carbery). Joey’s grandfather Joe lives in Auckland, New Zealand. Joey’s great-grandfather Joe was the son of Daniel “Dan” Carbery.
