His father, Adam Anastas Belliors/Beloushi/Veloussi/Belushi, was an Albanian emigrant, born in Qytezë/Devoll Municipality, Korçë. His mother, Agnes Demetri/Demetra (Samaras), was born in Akron, Summit County, Ohio, and was a first generation Albanian-American. He was the brother of actor Jim Belushi . His nephew is actor Robert Belushi , who is Jim’s son. His family was Albanian Orthodox.
John was married to Judith Jacklin Belushi, until his death.
John’s paternal grandfather was Anastas/Anastos/Anastassios Adam Veloussi/Belliors/Bellios/Beliouri/Beloushi/Belushi (the son of Adam Veloussi and Demetrula Kosta). Anastas was born in Devoll Municipality, Korçë.
