John Butler is an American-Australian singer, songwriter, musician, and music producer. He was a member of roots rock and jam rock band John Butler Trio.
John was born in California, to an Australian father and an American mother. John’s father is of one half English, one quarter Bulgarian, and one quarter Greek, descent. John’s mother has German, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. He was raised in Australia since roughly 1986, living in Pinjarra, Western Australia. John is married to Australian musician and vocalist Danielle Caruana/Mama Kin, with whom he has two children.
John’s paternal grandfather was John Francis Wiltshire-Butler (the son of John Edwin Rhoda “Jack” Butler and Frances Alice “Connie” Wilsher). John’s grandfather John was born in Cottesloe, Western Australia, Australia, and was a forestry worker who died fighting a bushfire in Nannup. John’s great-grandfather John was the son of Joseph Elijah Butler and Margaret Absalom Barrass, who were the children of English parents. Frances was born in London, England, the daughter of Ernest Willsher and Ada Mary Brownfield.
John’s paternal grandmother was Phillipa Radomiroff (the son of Nicola Radomiroff and Marietta Eugenides). Phillipa was born in Egypt. Nicola was born in Koprivshtitsa, Bulgaria, the son of Kristio Radomiroff. Marietta was born in Turkey, and was an ethnic Greek.
John’s maternal grandfather was Charles LeGrand Butler (the son of LeGrand Stephen Butler and Frances Rose Krauss). LeGrand was the son of Charles M. Butler and Mary F. Hartliel, whose parents were German. Frances was the daughter of William Krauss.
John’s maternal grandmother was Jane Unger (the daughter of George Frederick Unger and Harriet Ward). George was the son of Frederick Unger, whose father was German and whose mother was Scottish; and of Matilda Hofheins, whose parents were German. Harriet likely was of Irish descent.
