John Cho is an American actor and musician. His roles include the American Pie films, Better Luck Tomorrow , Big Fat Liar , Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle , and its sequels; In Good Company , American Dreamz , the Star Trek franchise, beginning with the 2009 film of the same name; Total Recall (2012), Identity Thief , That Burning Feeling , Grandma (2015), Get a Job , Columbus , Gemini (2017), A Happening of Monumental Proportions , Searching , The Oath (2018), The Grudge (2020), Over the Moon , Wish Dragon , Don’t Make Me Go , and AfrAId (2024); and the shows Charmed , Off Centre , FlashForward , Sleepy Hollow , Selfie , Difficult People , The Exorcist , Cowboy Bebop , The Afterparty , and The Sympathizer . He is often noted as having reached several Asian-American “firsts” in casting.

He was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to the U.S. in the late 1970s, living mostly in Los Angeles, California; as well as Houston, Texas; Seattle, Washington; and Daly City and Monterey Park, CA. His father was a minister in the Church of Christ, originally from North Korea. John is married to actress Kerri Higuchi, with whom he has two children.
