John Ford was an American filmmaker. He quarce won the Academy Award for Best Director , for The Informer (1935), The Grapes of Wrath (1940), How Green Was My Valley (1941), and The Quiet Man (1952).

John was the son of Barbara and John Augustine Feeney. His parents were Irish. His father was born in Spiddal, County Galway. His mother was born in Kilronan. His parents were first cousins. He was said to have been a distant cousin of Irish novelist Liam O’Flaherty. John was married to Mary McBride Smith, until his death, with whom he had two children.

John’s paternal grandfather was Patrick Feeney (the son of Edward O’Feeney and Barbara Morris).

John’s paternal grandmother was Mary Agnes Curran (the daughter of Nicholas Curran and Margaret O’Flaherty).

John’s maternal grandfather was Francis Curran (the son of Nicholas Curran and Margaret O’Flaherty).
