John Frusciante is an American guitarist, singer, composer, and producer. He is a guitarist for rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. Other members of the band include/have included Flea , Anthony Kiedis , Josh Klinghoffer , Dave Navarro , and Chad Smith . He is also known as Trickfinger.
He is the son of Gail West (Haworth), a musician, and John Augustus Frusciante, a judge. His great-uncle was Ted Haworth, a film production designer and art director. He was raised partly in Phoenix, Arziona; Florida; and Mar Vista, California.
John’s paternal grandfather was John Carlo Frusciante (the son of Achille Frusciante and Teresina Cocchi). John was born in Manhattan, New York City, New York, to Italian parents. Achille was born in San Nazzaro, Benevento, Campania, the son of Giovanni Frusciante and Teresina De Nisco.
John’s paternal grandmother was Lydia Fortunata Colón Jiménez (the daughter of Hermogenez/Hermógenes Jiménez y Soto and María Dolores Colón Ayala). Lydia was born in Aibonito County, Puerto Rico, and had Spanish, African, and more distant Portuguese, roots; as well as ancestors from Mexico. Hermogenez was born in Cañabón, Caguas, the son of Genaro Jiménez Delgado and Brígida Soto López. John’s great-grandfather William was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Benjamin Haworth and Martha A. O’Leary, who were born in Lancashire, England, Benjamin in Accrington and Martha in Clayton Le Moors. Martha had Irish parentage.
