John Riggins is an American professional football player. A fullback, he played his professional career with the New York Jets and the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL). Known for his running style and productivity, he was voted Super Bowl MVP for Super Bowl XVII (1983), playing with the Redskins, and was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 1992. He is nicknamed “Riggo” and “Diesel.”

John is the son of Mildred and Franklin Eugene Riggins. He is married to Lisa Marie, and has six children.
