Johnny Marr is a British musician, songwriter, and singer. He was co-songwriter, with Morrissey , and, from 1982–1987, a guitarist, of rock band The Smiths. He has also been a member of alternative dance supergroup Electronic, American rock band Modest Mouse, rock band The Pretenders, indie rock band The Cribs, and post-bunk band The The. Chrissie Hynde has also been a member of The Pretenders.
Johnny’s parents, Frances Patricia and John Joseph Maher, emigrated from Athy, County Kildare, Ireland to Manchester shortly before his birth. He is married to Angie, with whom he has two children.
Johnny’s maternal grandfather was surnamed Doyle.
