Johnny Ramone was an American musician. He was the lead guitarist for, and a founding member of, punk rock band The Ramones. Dee Dee Ramone and Joey Ramone were also members of the Ramones.
He was the son of Stella, a waitress, and Francis Thomas “Frank” Cummings, a construction worker and steamfitter. Johnny was raised in Forest Hills, Queens. He was married to philanthropist Linda Ramone, until his death. Linda co-owns Ramones Productions. Ramones songs “Danny Says” and “She’s a Sensation” were about her.
Johnny’s paternal grandfather was John Joseph Cummings (the son of Patrick Cummings and Hannah Lantry). John was born in Manhattan, New York City, New York. Patrick was born in Tipperary, Ireland, the son of Thomas Cummings and Cecilia Joyce. Johnny’s great-grandmother Hannah was born in New York, to Irish parents, James Lantry and Catherine/Kathryn Slevin.
Johnny’s paternal grandmother was Rose Frances Larkin (the daughter of John A. Larkin and Caroline/Carrie Cappler/Kaplan/Coppler). Rose was born in New York City, New York. John was born in New York, the son of Irish parents, Dennis Larkin and Margaret McNamara.
