Jonathan Banks is an American actor. He is known for playing Mike Ehrmantraut on the series Breaking Bad , and its spin-off show, Better Call Saul , and film, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie . His roles also include the series Wiseguy , Community , and, in voice performance, Invincible ; the films The Rose (1979), Airplane! , Frances (1982), Beverly Hills Cop , Armed and Dangerous , There Goes the Neighborhood (1992), Under Siege 2: Dark Territory , Foolish , Puff, Puff, Pass ; Identity Thief , and The Commuter , and the video game Batman: Arkham Knight , in voice role.
He is the son of Emma Elena and Clarence Ray Banks. Jonathan is married to Gennera Gonzalez Cebian. He has a daughter with his former wife Marnie Fausch; and two children with Gennera.
Jonathan’s patrilineal line can be traced to John Henry Banks, Jr., who was born, c. 1753, in Burke County, North Carolina.
Jonathan’s paternal grandfather was John Barnett Banks (the son of Jonathan B. Banks and Frances Jane Blankenship). John was born in Burnsville, North Carolina. Jonathan was born in Yancey, North Carolina, the son of Andrew Ezekial Banks and Rachel Ruth Turner. Jonathan’s great-grandmother Frances was born in North Carolina, the daughter of Barnett Blankenship and Ruth Koon. Andrew Banks has sometimes been said to have been the grandson of a Native American woman, Jane Red Wing. However, it is not clear if Jane existed.
