Juan Perón was an Argentinian general and politician. He was President of Argentina , from 4 June, 1946 to 21 September, 1955, and again, from 12 October, 1973 to 1 July, 1974, his death. He was also Secretary of Labour and Social Security, from 1 December, 1943 to 10 October, 1945, Minister of War, from 24 February, 1944 to 10 October, 1945, Vice President of Argentina (De facto), from 8 July, 1944 to 10 October, 1945, and President of the Justicialist Party, from 21 November, 1946 to 1 July, 1974.
President Perón was the son of Juana Salvadora Sosa Toledo and Mario Tomás Perón Dutey. He was married to Aurelia Tizón, until her death; then to Eva Perón , until her death; and then to Isabel Perón , until his death. Isabel succeeded him as President of Argentina upon his death, from 1 July, 1974 to 24 March, 1976.
President Perón had evidently stated that he had Tehuelche Indigenous heritage from his mother’s side. However, this ancestry is disputed by historians.
President Perón’s paternal grandfather was Tomás Liberato Perón Hughes (the son of Tomás Mario Perón and Ann Hughes MacKenzie). President Peron’s grandfather Tomás was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. President Perón’s great-grandfather Tomás was born in Genoa, Liguria, Italy, the son of Marius Toussaint Perron and Maria Rosa Caterina Poggi. President Perón’s great-grandmother Ann was born in London, England, the daughter of Stephen/Esteban Hughes and Elizabeth/Isabel MacKenzie, who was Scottish.
President Perón’s paternal grandmother was Dominga Dutey Bergougnan (the daughter of Juan/Jean Dutey Dorré and Vicenta Bergougnan). Dominga was born in Paysandú, Uruguay, to Basque parents, from Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. Jean was the son of Jean Dutey and Gratienne Dorré. Vicenta was the daughter of Jean Bergougnan and Marie Espil.
President Perón’s maternal grandfather was Juan Ireneo Sosa Martínez (the son of José Romualdo Sosa Castro and Juliana de los Dolores Martinez García). President Peron’s grandfather Juan was born in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. José was the son of Isidoro Sosa Burgos and Manuela Castro. Juliana was the daughter of Josef Diego Martinez Mansilla and Maria Estefania Garcia.
President Perón’s maternal grandmother was Mercedes Toledo Gauna/Gaona (the daughter of José Toledo and Victoria Gauna Piñero). Mercedes was born in Azul, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. was the son of José Luis Toledo and Pascuala Correa. Victoria was the daughter of Cándido José Gauna Espíndola and María Eugenia Piñero.
