Julian Lennon is a British musician, singer, songwriter, photographer, filmmaker, author, and philanthropist.
He is the son of artist and author Cynthia (Powell) Lennon and musician, singer, songwriter, composer, and activist John Lennon , of rock band The Beatles. His half-brother is musician and composer Sean Lennon . His father was partly raised by his own maternal aunt, Mimi Smith. His paternal half-aunt is teacher and author Julia Baird. Julian’s stepmother is artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist Yoko Ono .
Julian’s paternal grandfather was Alfred Lennon (the son of John Lennon and Mary “Polly” Maguire). Alfred was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, and was a seaman and singer. John was born in County Down, Ireland, and was a minstrel, who toured the United States. He was the son of James Lennon and Jane McConville. Mary was born in Liverpool, and likely was also of Irish ancestry, the daughter of James Maguire.
Julian’s paternal grandmother was Julia Elizabeth Stanley (the daughter of George Ernest Stanley and Annie Jane Millward). Julia was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. George was born in Liverpool; he was in the Merchant Navy, and later worked as an insurance investigator for the Liverpool & Glasgow Salvage Association.
