Julius Erving is an American professional basketball player. A small forward, he played for the Virginia Squires, the New York Nets, and the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He helped popularize the modern style of play that emphasizes leaping and playing above the rim. He is nicknamed “Dr J.” He is 6′7″.

Julius is married to Dorýs Madden. He has four children with his former wife Turquoise Erving; a daughter, professional tennis player Alexandra Stevenson, with his former partner, sportswriter Samantha Stevenson; and four children with Dorýs. He was a cousin of economist and commentator Walter E. Williams. Julius is a Christian.
