Karine Jean-Pierre is an American political advisor and spokesperson. A member of the Democratic Party, she was White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary, from January 20, 2021 to May 13, 2022, White House Press Secretary, from May 13, 2022 to January 20, 2025, and Senior Advisor to the President, from October 7, 2024 to January 20, 2025. She has also been a lecturer in international and public affairs at Columbia University, a senior advisor and national spokeswoman for progressive advocacy group MoveOn.org, and a commentator on NBC News and MSNBC.

Karine was born in Fort-de-France, on the island Martinique, France, to Haitian parents. She was mostly raised in Queens Village, Queens, New York City. Her father was a taxi driver and her mother was a home health aide. She speaks English, French, and Haitian Creole.

She has a daughter, who is adopted, with her former partner, news journalist Suzanne Malveaux .
