Kate Gosselin is an American television personality. She is known for appearing on reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8 , with her then-husband, Jon Gosselin , and their eight children.
Much of Kate’s family is from the Pennsylvania Dutch, ethnic Germans in Pennsylvania, community.
There were some claims on the internet that Kate’s mother is Jewish. This is not correct.
Kate’s paternal grandfather was Clair Eugene Kreider (the son of Franklin Benjamin “Frank” Kreider and Edith Caley Bricker). Kate’s grandfather Clair was born in Conewago, Pennsylvania. Franklin was the son of Gottlieb/Gilbert Hoke Kreider and Matilda Douple/Doupple. Kate’s great-grandmother Edith was the daughter of Samuel Andrews Bricker and Ellen Steinruck Caley/Coley.
Kate’s paternal grandmother was Edythe Irene Robinson (the daughter of John Franklin Robinson and Icy/Icie Lura Burgess). Edythe was born in Sissonville, West Virginia, and had deep American roots. John was the son of John Thomas Robinson and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Kersey. Icy was the daughter of The Rev. John Newton Burgess and Nancy Catherine Martin.
Kate’s maternal grandfather was Arthur Albert Kolak (the son of Willhelm “William” Kolak/Kolakowski and Henrietta Ida Boettcher). Arthur was born in Pennsylvania, to parents from Germany. Wilhelm was the son of Gottlieb Kolakowski/Kolak and Gottliebe Opalka, and had Polish ancestry. Henrietta was from Friedrichsdorf, Kassel, Hesse.
Kate’s maternal grandmother was Ruth Helen Ringwood (the daughter of George Albert Ringwood and Emma Violet Bond). Ruth was born in Canada, to English parents. George was from Norwich, Norfolk, the son of George Albert Ringwood and Eliza Spelman. Emma was from Birmingham, Warwickshire, the daughter of William Bond and Sarah Elizabeth Lees.
