She is the daughter of athletes Lei Clijsters (Leo Albert Jozef Clijsters), a professional football defender, and Els Vandecaetsbeek, a national artistic gymnastics champion. Her sister is professional tennis player Elke Clijsters. Kim is married to American professional basketball player and coach Brian Lynch, with whom she has three children.
