Lamberto Bava is an Italian film director and screenwriter. He has directed the films Macabre (1980), A Blade in the Dark , Blastfighter , Monster Shark , Demons (1985), and its sequel, Demons 2: The Nightmare Returns , Midnight Killer , Delirium (1987), Body Puzzle , and Ghost Son ; the made-for-tv movies Graveyard Disturbance , Until Death , The Ogre (1989), Dinner with a Vampire , and Fantaghirò and its sequels; and the mini-series The Dragon Ring . He also co-wrote his Macabre , the Demons films, Midnight Killer , and Body Puzzle , wrote Ghost Son , and co-wrote the first four aforementioned television films. He is also known as John Old, Jr.

Lamberto is the son of Iole Sergio and Mario Bava, who himself was a renowned horror filmmaker, called “Master of Italian Horror” and “Master of the Macabre,” most prominently for directing Black Sunday and Black Sabbath ; he was also a cinematographer, special effects artist, and screenwriter. Mario was born in Sanremo, Liguria. Lamberto began his career as an assistant director for his father, and co-wrote his father’s film Shock (1977).

Lamberto’s paternal grandfather was sculptor Eugenio Bava. Eugenio worked as a cinematographer and special effects technician for Italian silent films.
