Lauren Cohan is an American-born English actress and model. She is known for her roles on The Vampire Diaries , and as Maggie Greene, The Walking Dead .
Lauren’s father is an American, of Irish, one quarter Norwegian, English, Scottish, and more distant German and Dutch, descent. Lauren’s mother is Scottish. Lauren lived in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and for one year in Georgia. She then moved to the U.K., at the age of thirteen, living in Surrey. Lauren has dual citizenship, British and American.
When she was five, her mother re-married; the surname Cohan comes from her stepfather. Her stepfather was born Jewish, and both her mother and Lauren herself converted to Judaism. Lauren was raised Jewish and had a Bat Mitzvah ceremony.
Lauren’s paternal grandfather was Dr. Gordon Richard Storholm (the son of Orrin Miles Storholm and Marion Thorne). Gordon was born in Bound Brook, New Jersey. Orrin was the son of Olaf Guneris Storholm, a Norwegian emigrant, from Oslo; and of Jenny Marieanne Olson, whose parents were also Norwegian. Lauren’s great-grandmother Marion was the daughter of Charles F. Thorne, who had partly deep roots in the U.S.; and of Mary Burns, who was an Irish immigrant.
Lauren’s paternal grandmother is Jeanne Marie McIvor (the daughter of Lawrence Albert McIvor and Mary Elizabeth Coleman). Jeanne was born in New York. Lawrence was the son of Norman A. McIvor, whose parents were Scottish; and of Harriet Ellen Fitzpatrick, who was of three quarters English, and one quarter Irish and/or Scots-Irish, descent. Lauren’s great-grandmother Mary was the daughter of Owen J. Coleman and Jane Theresa “Jennie” Quinn, who were born in Pennsylvania, both of them of Irish descent.
Lauren’s maternal surname is Moorhouse.
