Lee Isaac Chung is an American film director, screenwriter, editor, and cinematographer. He has directed the films Munyurangabo , Lucky Life , Abigail Harm , all of which he co-wrote; Minari , which he wrote; and Twisters , and an episode each of the series The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew . Munyurangabo was the first narrative feature in the Kinyarwanda language of Rwanda. He was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Minari , which was also nominated for Best Picture.
Lee was born in Denver, to South Korean parents. His family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and then to a small family farm in Lincoln, Arkansas. He is married to Valerie Chu, with whom he has a daughter.
