Lenny Wilkens was an American professional basketball player, and coach. A point guard, he played for the St. Louis Hawks, the Seattle SuperSonics, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He coached the Seattle SuperSonics, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Atlanta Hawks, the Toronto Raptors, and the New York Knicks. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame three times, as a player in 1989, as a coach in 1998, and as assistant coach for the 1992 U.S. Olympic Team, in 2010.
He was the son of Henrietta (Cross) and Leonard R. Wilkens. He was raised Catholic. Lenny was married to Marilyn Reed, until his death, with whom he had three children. He founded the Lenny Wilkens Foundation for Children.
