Leroy Sané is a German professional footballer. A winger and attacking midfielder, he plays for Galatasaray and the German national team. He was previously with Schalke 04, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.
Leroy is the son of German gymnast Regina Weber, a Bronze Medalist at the 1984 Olympic Games, and footballer and Senegalese international Souleyman “Samy” Sané. His father was born in Dakar, and moved to France at the age of four; he played as a striker. He moved to Germany through service in the German army. Leroy’s mother was born in Winsen an der Luhe, Niedersachsen. He was named after his father’s head coach, Claude Le Roy. Leroy’s brother is professional footballer Sidi Sané.
His paternal grandparents were diplomats.
He also has French citizenship.
