Lisa Edelstein is an American actress and playwright. She is known for playing Dr. Cuddy on the series House , and for her roles in Dr. Bird’s Advice for Sad Poets and Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce , among other projects. Lisa is the daughter of Bonnie and Alvin Edelstein. She was raised in Wayne, New Jersey. Lisa is married to artist Robert Russell, who is also Jewish.

She was known as Lisa E when she was involved in the New York club scene in the late 1980s. She was dubbed “Queen of the Night” by a writer.

Lisa’s paternal grandfather was named Samuel Edelstein. Samuel was a Russian Jewish immigrant.

Lisa’s paternal grandmother was Ida/Chaya Gitl Stelling (the daughter of Samuel Stelling and Chava Leah Zwiebach/Zweibach). Ida was a Polish Jewish immigrant.
