Lisa Marie Presley was an American singer, songwriter, and actress.
She was the daughter of musician-actor Elvis Presley and actress and businessperson Priscilla Presley . Lisa Marie had two children, including actress and model Riley Keough , with her former husband, singer and songwriter Danny Keough; and two children with her former husband, guitarist, music producer, and director Michael Lockwood.
Her maternal half-brother was musician Navarone Garibaldi. She was a half-cousin of actor, producer, and podcast host Kash Hovey , through their shared maternal grandmother, Anna Lillian Iversen.
Lisa Marie’s paternal grandfather was Vernon Elvis Presley (the son of Jesse/Jessie Dunnan/Dunning McClowell “Dee” Presley and Minnie Mae Hood). Vernon was born in Fulton, Itawamba County, Mississippi. Jessie was born in Fulton, the son of an unknown father, possibly John Wallace, and of Martha Rosella “Rosie” Presley. Lisa Marie’s great-grandmother Minnie was born in Fulton, the daughter of William Harrison “Buck” Hood and Mary Louisa “Dutchess” Warren.
Lisa Marie’s paternal grandmother was Gladys Love Smith (the daughter of Robert Lee “Bob” Smith and Octavia Lavenia/Luvenia “Dollie”/Doll Mansell). Gladys was born in Pontotoc, Pontotoc Co., Mississippi. Robert was born in Saltillo, Lee County, Mississippi, the son of Mileage/Miledge/Milege Obediah “Obe” Smith and Ann/Anna Lillian “Annie” Mansell/Mansel. Lisa Marie’s great-grandmother Octavia was born in Itawamba County, Mississippi, the daughter of Albert White “Abel” Mansell and Martha Sue Tackett.
Lisa Marie’s maternal grandfather was James Frederick Wagner (the son of Harold Andrew Wagner and Kathryn Gates Ramsey). James was born in Pennsylvania, near Cherrytree, Venango. Harold was born in Titusville, Crawford, Pennsylvania, the son of Fred W. Wagner and Albertena/Albertina Staub, who were the children of German parents. Lisa Marie’s great-grandmother Katherine was born in West Virginia, the daughter of James Calvin Ramsey and Alice Jane Baughman.
Lisa Marie’s maternal grandmother was Anna Lillian Iversen (the daughter of Albert Henry Iversen and Lorraine Grace Davis). Anna was born in New London, New London Co., Connecticut. Albert was born in Egersund, Rogaland, Norway, the son of Hjalmar Armand/Amund Iversen and Anna Teoline/Theoline Johansen/Johannesen. Lisa Marie’s great-grandmother Lorraine was born in New London, the daughter of Samuel David Davis and Effie Lillian Valentine.
Lisa Marie’s paternal great-great-great-great-grandmother, the mother of John Bailey Mansell, was said to have been a Native American woman named Morning Dove White, usually referred to as Cherokee. The story of Morning’s marriage to a caucasian man, William A. Mansell, Lisa Marie’s great-great-great-great-grandfather, is known among family researchers. However, it is not clear if any documentary evidence has been produced that Morning Dove White had existed, or that she was of Native American ancestry. At least one census entry for Morning Dove White’s would-be son, John Mansell, describes him as “White.” Several other census listings of Morning’s other children list them as “White” as well. More background information on this can be found here .
There is a claim that Lisa Marie’s paternal great-great-great-grandmother, Elvis’s matrilineal ancestor, said to have been named Nancy J. Burdine, was Jewish. It is possible that Elvis and his family believed this, as well. However, research has shown this claim of Jewish ancestry to be highly unlikely, and that Lisa Marie’s ancestor, Elvis’s matrilineal great-great-grandmother, was almost certainly a different woman, Celia Anne/Ann Butler. It is not clear if Nancy Burdine actually existed, much less was Jewish and/or an ancestor of Elvis. Some background information on this can be found here (see “24. Blue Christmas”) and here (from Jim W. Tackitt, of the Tackett Family Association).
Some have also stated that Lisa Marie’s father had Romani ancestry. It is not clear if this claim has ever been verified/documented, either.
Lisa Marie was an eighth cousin of actress Britt Robertson . Lisa Marie’s paternal seven times great-grandparents, Andreas “Andrew” Preslar and Antje “Ann” Wells, were also the seven times great-grandparents of Britt Robertson.
