Lizz Winstead is an American comedian, radio and television personality, abortion rights activist, and podcast host.
Lizz is the daughter of Helen Virginia “Ginny” and Wilbur Collins “Windy” Winstead, both actors.
Lizz’s paternal grandfather was Robert Lafayette Winstead (the son of Dempsey Winstead and Mary Cedonia Peebles). Robert was born in Neshoba, Mississippi. Dempsey was the son of Alford Linsbury Winstead and Blessing Viverette. Lizz’s great-grandmother Mary was born in Mississippi, the daughter of Thomas M. Peebles and Frances Thagwood/Thaggard, whose paternal grandfather was from Ålborg, Denmark.
Lizz’s paternal grandmother was Ora Lee Collins (the daughter of Alexander Gillis Collins and Indiana Cornelia Portwood). Ora was born in Neshoba, Mississippi. Alexander was born in Mississippi, the son of Elijah Jonathan Collins and Penelope Ann McClendon. Lizz’s great-grandmother Indiana was born in Mississippi, the daughter of James Madison Portwood and Ann Taylor.
Lizz’s maternal grandfather was surnamed Lund.
Through her Winstead line, Lizz is a fifth cousin of actress and musician Evan Rachel Wood , through their great-great-great-great-grandparents, Dempsey Winstead and Catherine Vick.
