Luca Zingaretti is an Italian actor and film director. He is known for playing Salvo Montalbano on the series Inspector Montalbano , which he also directed episodes of. His roles also include the series Dio vede e provvede and Perlasca – Un eroe Italiano , and the films The Gold Rimmed Glasses , Il branco , Castle Freak (1995), Strangled Lives , Artemisia , You Laugh , The Good War , Kiss Me First , Come into the Light , The Days of Abandonment , Don’t Make Any Plans for Tonight , Our Country , My Brother Is an Only Child , Wild Blood (2008), The Youngest Son , La nostra vita , Mozzarella Stories , Kryptonite! , Garibaldi’s Lovers , Nicholas on Holiday , Perez. , Partly Cloudy with Sunny Spells , Il vegetale , Boys Cry , Tuttapposto , and Rose Island .
His mother escaped from the Nazis. It appears that her own father was Jewish, and her mother was not. His brother is politician Nicola Zingaretti, who has been Secretary of the Democratic Party, from 17 March, 2019 to 14 March, 2021, and President of Lazio, from 12 March, 2013 to 10 November, 2022.
Luca is married to actress Luisa Ranieri , with whom he has two children.
Luca’s maternal grandfather was Carlo Di Capua (the son of David Di Capua and Ester Della Torre). Ester was the daughter of Angelo Della Torre and Gentile Milano. Ester was deported to Auschwitz, where she died in 1943.
