Luciano Pavarotti was an Italian operatic tenor, and later popular music singer, and actor. He recorded many complete operas and individual arias. He starred in the film Yes, Giorgio and the filmed opera Rigoletto (1982), and was featured in the documentary Pavarotti after his death. He performed as part of operatic singing trio The Three Tenors, from 1990 to 2003, with José Carreras and Plácido Domingo . He was nicknamed “King of the High Cs,” due to his tone.

Luciano was the son of Adele (Venturi), a cigar factory worker, and Fernando Pavarotti, a baker and amateur tenor. He was married to personal assistant Nicoletta Mantovani, until his death. He had three children with his former wife Adua Veroni; and a daughter with Nicoletta.

Luciano’s paternal grandfather was Giuseppe Pavarotti (the son of Pasquino Pavarotti and Angelica Neri). Giuseppe was born in Soliera, Modena, Emilia-Romagna, to parents who were also born there.
