Luke Shuey is a Australian rules footballer. He played for, and captained, the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL), and was also with the Australia national team. Luke played in the 2018 AFL Grand Final, where the Eagles won over the Collingwood Magpies. After the match, he was awarded the Norm Smith Medal as the best player on the ground. He is nicknamed “Boots” and “Chingy.”
Luke is the son of Michelle and Peter Shuey. He was raised in Templestowe, Melbourne. He is married to Danielle Orlando, with whom he has two children.
Luke’s paternal grandfather was Kenneth Basil Shuey (the son of Christopher Ah Shuey and Sarah Miller). Kenneth was born in Victoria, Australia. Christopher was born in Buckland, Victoria, the son of William Ah Shuey, who was born in Ah Shue/Ah Suey in Guangzhou, China, and emigrated to Australia during the Victorian gold rush; and of Agnes Towers, who was born in Middlesex, England and came to Australia as an infant.
