Mackenzie Crook is an English actor, director, comedian, and writer. He is the son of Sheila, a hospital manager, and Michael Crook, a British Airways employee. Mackenzie was partly raised in Dartford, Kent, and spent summers on his uncle’s tobacco farm in northern Zimbabwe. He is married to advertising executive Lindsay, with whom he has two children.
Mackenzie’s maternal grandfather was Stanley Charles Brill (the son of Charles Brill and Edith Florence M. Rockwell). Stanley was born in Woolwich, London, England. Mackenzie’s great-grandfather Charles was the son of William Brill and Sarah Anne Spong. Edith was born in Woolwich, the daughter of William John Rockwell and Margaret Sophia Hughes, who was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to a father from Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, Wales.
Mackenzie’s maternal grandmother was Irene Joan Sangster (the daughter of Thomas Sangster and Eliza Ison). Irene was born in Lewisham, London, England. Thomas was born in Plumstead, Kent, the son of Henry Sangster and Alice Amelia Avey. Eliza was born in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, the daughter of Herbert Ison and Rebecca Reeve.
