Madison Bumgarner is an American professional baseball player. A pitcher, he played for the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is nicknamed “MadBum.”
He is the son of Debbie, an accountant, and Kevin Bumgarner, who works in food distribution. Madison grew up in a place in North Carolina nicknamed “Bumtown,” due to the high number of people also with the surname Bumgarner. The surname is of German origin. Madison has several lines tracing back to the same Bumgarner ancestors, from which actor James Garner (born James Scott Bumgarner) was also descended.
Madison is married to Ali Saunders, with whom he has four children. He is a Baptist.
Madison’s paternal grandfather was Thad Franklin Bumgarner (the son of John Franklin Bumgarner and Artie Victoria Gray). Thad was born in North Carolina. John was the son of Phillip Johnson Bumgarner and Sarah Genelia Kirby, who were first cousins. Artie was the daughter of William Jefferson Gray and Cordelia Ann Kirby.
