María Jiménez was a Spanish singer, who started her career in tablaos (flamenco taverns) as María La Pipa. Her career was relaunched when she collaborated on the song La lista de la compra with the group La Cabra Mecánica and released Donde más duele , with songs by Joaquín Sabina. She appeared in the films Manuela (2023), Whore (2004), and Los managers . She presented the program Bienaventurados .
María was born in the Triana neighbourhood, Seville, the daughter of a father surnamed Jiménez from Nerva, Huelva, and a mother surnamed Gallego from La Pedrosa, Cádiz. She had two children, including a son with her former husband, actor José Sancho.
María’s paternal grandfather was named Baltasar Jiménez. Baltasar was Romani.
