María Teresa Fernández de la Vega is a Spanish politician. A member of the Spanish Socialist Worker’s Party (PSOE), she has been First Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, and Minister of the Presidency, both, from 18 April, 2004 to 21 October, 2010, and President of the Council of State, from 3 July, 2018 to 19 October, 2022; as well as, a Member of the Congress of Deputies from Jaen, then Segovia, then Madrid, then Valencia, cumulatively, from March 1996 to 21 October, 2010.
María Teresa is the daughter of Elena Sanz Reig, born in Játiva, Valencian Community, and Wenceslao Fernández de la Vega y Lombán, born in Vegadeo, Asturias.
Maria Teresa’s paternal grandfather was Wenceslao Fernández de la Vega y Pasarín (the son of José Fernández de la Vega and Generosa Pasarín). He was born in Lugo, Galicia.
María Teresa’s paternal grandmother was María de los Dolores Lombán/Lombao Cotarelo.
