Marion Maréchal is a French politician, associated with far-right movements. She has been Executive Vice President of Reconquête, from 19 April, 2022 to 12 June, 2024; as well as, a Member of the European Parliament, since 16 July, 2024, and, previously, a Member of the National Assembly for Vaucluse’s 3rd constituency, from 20 June, 2012 to 20 June, 2017. She was one of the youngest members of parliament in the history of the Fifth Republic; and was then involved in education and political advocacy, before returning to politics.
Marion is the daughter of Yann Le Pen and Roger Auque (Roger Henri Auque), who was a journalist, war correspondent, diplomat, and spy for the Mossad; and served as Ambassador of France to Eritrea, from 2009 to 2012. Her father was born in Roubaix. Marion was raised within her mother’s marriage to politician Samuel Maréchal. Her maternal grandfather, Jean-Marie Le Pen, was President of the National Front, from 5 October, 1972 to 15 January, 2011, and subsequently Honorary President of the National Front, from 16 January, 2011 to 20 August, 2015.
She is the maternal niece of politician Marie-Caroline Le Pen, and lawyer and politician Marine Le Pen , who has been President of the National Rally, from 16 January, 2011 to 13 September, 2021, Chair of the Europe of Nations and Freedom Group, from 15 June, 2015 to 19 June, 2017, and President of the National Rally group in the National Assembly.
Marion is married to Italian politician Vincenzo Sofo, a member of the Brothers of Italy (FdI). She has a daughter with her former husband, businessperson Matthieu Decosse; and a daughter with Vincenzo.
Marion’s paternal grandfather was Robert André Kneignaert-Auque (the son of Gilbert Pierre Auque and Rachel Léonie Jeanne Kneignaert). Gilbert was born in Albi, Tarn. Rachel was born in Bailleul, Nord, the daughter of Henri Charles Keignaert and Reinilde Mathilde Warlop.
Marion’s paternal grandmother was named Geneviève Boudry/Baudry.
Marion’s maternal grandfather was Jean Marie Le Pen (the son of Jean Marie Le Pen and Anne Marie Madeleine Vincente Hervé). Marion’s grandfather Jean Marie was born in La Trinité-sur-Mer, Morbihan, Brittany. Marion’s great-grandfather Jean Marie was born in La Trinité-sur-Mer, the son of Pierre Marie Le Pen and Marie Hubert. Marion’s great-grandmother Anne was born in was born in Locmariaquer, Morbihan, the daughter of Vincent Marie Hervé and Marie Vincente Robert.
Marion’s maternal grandmother is Pierrette Le Pen (born Pierrette Lallane, the daughter of Pierre Lalanne and Jeanne/Jeanette/Jeannette Pauline Sirgue). Pierrette was born in Aire-sur-l’Adour, and was a model. Pierre was born in Saint Martin D’Oney, Landes, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and was a wine seller. He was the son of Jean Maurice Lalanne and Marie Léonie Remazeilles. Marion’s great-grandmother Jeannette was born in Asyut, Egypt, the daughter of Jean Baptiste Sirgue, a French expatriate, from Brasc, Aveyron; and of Pauline Vincent, who was born in Alexandria, Egypt, to a French father, and a mother whose own parents were Maltese.
