Mark Belanger was an American professional baseball player, and coach. A shortstop, he played for the Baltimore Orioles and the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). With eight gold gloves, he was widely considered to have been one of the greatest defensive defensive shortstops of all time. He was nicknamed “the Blade.”
Mark was the son of Maria and Edward Louis Belanger. He was married to Virginia French, until his death. He had two children with his former wife Daryl (Dee).
Mark’s paternal grandfather was Wilfred Joseph Belanger (the son of Edward Belanger and Marie Edmire Bourdeau). Wilfred was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Edward was born in Massachusetts, the son of Joseph Isidore Belanger and Marie Esther Foisy dit Freniere. Edmire was born in Naperville, Québec, Canada, the daughter of Joseph Theophile Bourdeau and Flavie Trembley.
Mark’s paternal grandmother was Louise A. Lajeunesse (the daughter of Louis Benjamin Lajeunesse, or Louis Young, and of Lidivina/Ludivina “Louise” Charbonneau). Louis was born in Cohoes, Albany County, New York. Ludivina was born in Saint-Cesaire, Monteregie Region, Québec, Canada, the daughter of Narcisse Charbonneau and Eliza Aubertin/Aupertin.
Mark’s maternal grandfather was Bortolo Bianchi (the son of Angelo Bianchi and Bolani Faustina). Bortolo was born in Sabbio Chiese, Provincia di Brescia, Lombardy, Italy.
Mark’s maternal grandmother was Rose Mary Bauchiero (the daughter of Dominick/Dominico/Domenick Bauchiero/Boccaro and Theresa/Teresa M. Setta/Cettia). Rose Mary was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Italian parents, from Dorno, Provincia di Pavia, Lombardy.
