Mark Frankel was a British actor. He starred on the shows Sisters , Fortune Hunter , and Kindred: The Embraced ; in the films Leon the Pig Farmer and Roseanna’s Grave ; and in the made-for-tv movies A Season of Giants and Young Catherine .
Mark was the son of Grace and David Frankel, an RAF pilot. His father had Polish Jewish ancestry. His mother was of Indian Jewish/Iraqi Jewish descent, with roots in Mumbai and Baghdad. His grandfather was a violinist and conductor, and his grandmother was a concert pianist.
Mark was married to French advertising account executive Caroline Besson, until his death, with whom he had two children, including actor Fabien Frankel .
Mark’s paternal grandfather was named Alexander Frankel.
Mark’s paternal grandmother was named Florence Roessler.
Mark’s maternal grandfather was Joseph Nissim Shmuel Zadka Marshall (the son of Nissim Mashal/Marshall/Za’aroor and Farha Sadka). Joseph was born in Baghdad. Through this line, Mark’s first cousin, once removed, was Singaporean politician David Marshall, who was Chief Minister of Singapore, from 6 April, 1955 to 7 June, 1956 (head of government), and Chairman of the Workers’ Party, from 1957 to 1963. Mark’s great-grandfather Nissim was born in Baghdad, the son of Hannah Mashal. Farha was born in Baghdad, the daughter of Hacham Shmuel Sadka and Sarah.
Mark’s maternal grandmother was named Madeline Zilka.
