Mark McGwire is an American professional baseball player, and coach. A first baseman, he played for the Oakland Athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He coached the St. Louis Cardinals, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the San Diego Padres. He is nicknamed “Big Mac.”
Mark is the son of Ginger and John McGwire. His brother is professional football player Dan McGwire. Mark is married to Stephanie Slemer. He has six children, including five with Stephanie.
His father is Irish, English, and German ancestry. His mother is of German, and some Austrian, descent.
