Mark Teixeira is an American professional baseball player. A first baseman, he played for the Texas Rangers, the Atlanta Braves, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is nicknamed “Tex.”
Mark is the son of Margaret and John Teixeira. He is married to Leigh Williams, with whom he has three children. Mark’s step-brother, through his father’s remarriage, is professional baseball player Brian McCann .
Mark is a devout Catholic.
Mark’s paternal grandfather was Stanley Gordon Teixeira (the son of John Gordon Teixeira and Josephine Adelaide Fernandes). Stanley was born in Georgetown, Guyana.
Mark’s paternal grandmother was Carol/Carole Davis Cushman (the daughter of Lester Darrel Cushman and Hazel King Davis).
Mark’s maternal grandfather was Charles J. Canterna (the son of Domenico/Domenic Canterna and Isabella Demme). Isabella was born in Aurelia, Roma, Lazio, Italy, the daughter of Pasquale Demme, from Calabria, and of Carmella Intrieri, whose family likely also was Calabrian.
