Mark’s paternal grandfather was Lionel Henry “Leo” Valley (the son of Leo Adolph Valley and Bernadette Gamache). Lionel was born in Ogdensburg, New York, of French-Canadian descent. Mark’s great-grandfather Leo was born in New York, the son of parents from Québec, Alexander A. Valley/Vallée and Eleanor Coyette/Guyette. Bernadette was born in New York, also to Québecec parents, Joseph Israel Gamache and Sophie Cholette.
Mark’s paternal grandmother was Margaret S. Mallette (the daughter of Nelson Francis Mallette and Helen Margaret Sears). Mark’s grandmother Margaret was born in Ogdensburg, New York. Nelson was born in New York, the son of Henry Mallette, Sr., who was French-Canadian, from Québec; and of Mary Ann O’Malley, whose parents were Irish.
