Matt Doyle is an American actor, singer, and songwriter. He won the Tony for Best Actor in a Musical for Company . His roles also include the films Once More with Feeling and Private Romeo and the show Gossip Girl .
Matt is the son of Sherrie and John Doyle. He was raised in Weston, Connecticut, and then Larkspur, California.
Matt’s paternal grandfather was Daniel Joseph Doyle (the son of James Francis Doyle and Ellen M. Finnen). James was born in Kerry, Ireland, the son of Thomas Doyle and Margaret Shea. Ellen was born in Scotland, the daughter of parents of Irish heritage, James Finnen and Margaret Donnelly.
Matt’s paternal grandmother was Geraldine Padula (the daughter of Jeremiah “Jerry” Padula and Nicoletta/Nicholetta/Nicholaeta “Mellie” Macchia). Geraldine was born in Massachusetts. Jeremiah was born in Campania, Italy. Nicoletta was born in New York, the daughter of Francisco Macchia and Maria Giffune, who were also Campanian.
