Matt Giordano is an American professional football player, and coach. A defensive back, he played for the Indianapolis Colts, the Green Bay Packers, the Atlanta Falcons, the New Orleans Saints, the Oakland Raiders, and the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League (NHL). He is assistant defensive backs coach & safeties coach for the Chicago Bears. He was previously defensive coordinator, and then head coach, at Buchanan High School (CA); a volunteer assistant at Fresno State; and assistant secondary coach for the New Orleans Saints.
He is the son of Victor and Janet Giordano. His great-grandfather, Ralph Giordano, also known as Young Corbett III, was a world welterweight boxing champion in 1933. Matt is married to Laura Enns.
Matt’s paternal grandfather was Victor Elbert Giordano (the son of Ralph/Raffaele Giordano and Gladys Padgett). Victor was born in California. Ralph was born in Rionero in Vulture, Basilicata, Italy, the son of Vito Giordano and Gelsomina/Josephine Capobianco/Capabianco. Gladys was born in Missouri, the daughter of William Elbert Padgett and Cora Ann Bybee.
Matt’s paternal grandmother was Mildred Bernice Malz (the daughter of George P. Malz and Alvenia Frances Grimes). Mildred was born in California.
