Matt Piedmont is an American film director and writer. He directed the film Casa de mi padre , and directed, co-wrote, and co-created the mini-series The Spoils of Babylon and The Spoils Before Dying .
Matt is married to Jill Cargerman.
Matt’s paternal grandfather was Joseph “Joe” Piedmont (the son of Joseph “Joe” Pejnovich/Piedmont and Katherine/Catherine Tomljanich/Tomich). Matt’s grandfather Joseph was born in Idaho, to parents from Yugoslavia. According to his obituary, Matt’s great-grandfather Joseph was born in Belgrade, Serbia; his daughter’s, Matt’s great-aunt’s, birth record has his and his wife’s birthplace as Gospic, Yugoslavia, and another record has Smiljan, both in Croatia. Matt’s great-grandparents Joseph and Katherine were listed as Serbian-speakers on the 1920 U.S. Census, and as German-speakers on the 1930 U.S. Census.
Matt’s paternal grandmother was Dorothy Lorraine Rich (the daughter of Cyril Adelbert Rich and Dorothy Nina/Neina Agee). Dorothy was born in Tennessee. Cyril was born in Utah, the son of Landon Rich and Mary Florence Bratton. Matt’s great-grandmother Dorothy was born in Texas, the daughter of Marvin Frederick Agee and Minnie Estella Logsdon/Logden.
Matt’s maternal grandfather was Alfred H. “Bud” Olson (the son of Alfred Helmer Olson and Agnes Avelsgaard). Matt’s grandfather Alfred was born in Minnesota. Matt’s great-grandfather Alfred was born in Wisconsin, the son of Gilbert Norman Olson, who was Norwegian; and of Mary Elizabeth Kinney, whose parents were also Norwegian. Matt’s great-grandmother Agnes was born in Minnesota, the daughter of Ole Avelsgaard, who was Norwegian; and of Regnild Mehus, whose parents were Norwegian, as well.
Matt’s maternal grandmother was Margie Louise Capps (the daughter of William Louis Capps and Beatrice Mary Baker). Margie was born in Oregon. William was born in Oregon, the son of Walter Douglas Capps and Edith Clair De Coudres. Beatrice was born in Oregon, the daughter of William Dubart Baker and Rosetta Farber.
Matt is a sixth cousin, once removed, of television personality Kevin Franke . Matt’s paternal great-great-great-great-great-great-grandparents, Thomas Rich and Ann Poole, were also Kevin’s maternal great-great-great-great-great-grandparents.
