Matt’s paternal grandfather is Douglas/Douglass Vernon Spicer (the son of Charles Spicer and Edna McDermott). Douglas was born in Pennsylvania. Charles was born in Illinois, the son of Stephen A. Douglas Spicer and Anna Henricks. Edna was born in Pennsylvania, the daughter of John Tiney McDermott, whose father was Irish, and of Lydia Emma Baldwin.
Matt’s paternal grandmother is Phyllis A. Walls (the daughter of Vincent Wall and Nellie Hitchens). Vincent was the son of Robert Walls and Sarah Fowler. Nellie was the daughter of Daniel Hitchens and Marian Mesick.
