Matthias Schweighöfer is a German actor, voice actor, film director, composer, filmmaker, and producer. He has directed the films What a Man (2011), Joy of Fatherhood , The Manny , and Army of Thieves ; he also co-wrote the first three, and starred in them all. He also directed episodes of the show You Are Wanted , which he starred on and composed music for. Beginning in German cinema and branching out into international films, his roles also include FeardotCom , Soloalbum , Off Beat (2004), Eight Miles High , Fata Morgana (2007), Rabbit Without Ears , The Red Baron , Valkyrie (2008), Night Train (2009), 12 Paces Without a Head , Rabbit Without Ears 2 , Friendship! (2010), Russian Disco , Kokowääh 2 , Frau Ella , The Most Beautiful Day , Vier gegen die Bank , Hot Dog , A Jar Full of Life , Kursk (2018), 100 Things , Resistance (2020), Army of the Dead , The Swimmers (2022), Oppenheimer (2023), Heart of Stone , Family Switch , Girl You Know It’s True ; Amrum , and Elio (2025).

Matthias is the son of actors Michael Schweighöfer and Gitta Schweighöfer. His uncles are/were actors Joachim Schweighöfer and Götz Schweighöfer. He has two children with his former partner Ani Schromm.

Matthias’ paternal grandfather was named Wilhelm “Willy” Schweighöfer.
