Max Cavalera is a Brazilian musician. He is the singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist for heavy metal bands Sepultura and Soulfly. Andreas Kisser has also been a member of Sepultura.
Max was born to an Italian father, Graziano Cavalera, from Fiume, now Rijeka, Croatia, and to a Brazilian mother, Vania Valquíria. His father worked for the Italian Consulate in São Paulo, Brazil. His mother can be seen here . His brother is musician Igor Cavalera.
Max’s paternal grandfather was Antonio Cavalera (the son of Cosimo Damiano Cavalera and Filomena Perrone). Antonio was born in Gallipoli, Lecce, Puglia, Italy. Cosimo was born in Gallipoli, the son of Quintino Cavalera and Maria Consiglia Frisenna. Max’s great-grandmother Filomena as born in Gallipoli, the daughter of Antonio Perrone and Maria Carmela Croce.
Max’s paternal grandmother was Maria Iuratovaz (the daughter of Giorgio Iuratovaz and Giuseppina Michelcich). Maria was born in Fiume/Rijeka, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Croatia.
