Mel Ott was an American professional baseball player, and manager. A right fielder, he played for the New York Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He also managed the New York Giants. He was inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951. He was nicknamed “Master Melvin.”

Mel was the son of Caroline and Charles Lawrence Ott.

Mel’s paternal grandfather was Charles Gottlieb/Gotlieb Ott (the son of Johann Michael Ott and Christina Fretz). Charles was German.
