Melissa is the daughter of Pamela Diane (Peterson) and David Allen/Allan Peterman. Melissa’s father is of half German, half Swedish descent. Melissa’s mother has Swedish and Scottish roots.
Melissa’s paternal grandfather was William Ferdinand Peterman (the son of Otto Wilhelm Peterman/Petermann and Henrietta Leona Schwandt). Otto was from Germany. Leona was born in Minnesota, to parents from Germany.
Melissa’s paternal grandmother was Edna Marie Nelson (the daughter of Edwin F. Nelson and Anne/Anna M.). Edwin and Anne were from Sweden.
Melissa’s maternal grandfather was Robert Allyn Peterson (the son of Levin Peterson and Carrie W. Hagander). Levin was born in Minnesota, the son of Swedish parents, Peters Peterson and Anneka. Carrie was also born in Minnesota, the daughter of Swedish parents, A. J. Hagander and Christine.
